Drug Uses

Temovate cream is an anti-inflammatory medicine for topical usage which is used for reduction of itching, redness, and swelling caused by various skin conditions. The medicine is suitable and safe for every skin type and causes very little side effects.

How Taken

A thin layer of Temovate Cream or Ointment should be applied on the affected areas of the skin two times a day. These affected skin areas should be washed and dried before you use the medicine. Temovate should be rubbed gently in the skin until it is regularly distributed on the affected areas. You should not put bandages on the areas treated with the medicine. Avoid getting the medicine into the eyes. If this happens you should wash your eyes with a lot of water.

Warnings/Precautions

Consult your doctor if the symptoms do not improve or if they worsen. This medicine will not treat the problem if it is an infection. Temovate falls into the FDA category C which means that it is not clear if is harmful for a fetus. Talk to your doctor before using Temovate in case you are pregnant. If the usage of Temovate is necessary during pregnancy, you should apply the smallest amount of the medicine for the shortest period of time required for the treatment of the condition. Treatment with Temovate during pregnancy should be monitored by a doctor. Also, consult your doctor before taking the medicine if you are breast feeding because it is not known if Temovate passes into breast milk.

Missed Dose

In case you miss a dose, take the missed tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is already time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and take the regular dose. Do not take a double dose of the medicine.

Possible Side Effects

Temovate is not expected to cause any serious systemic adverse effects unless large amounts of it have been used for a long period of time. If the body absorbs the medicine, you may develop blurred vision, halos around lights, an irregular heartbeat, insomnia, mood changes, weight gain, or fatigue.Inform your doctor in case you develop any of the above-mentioned side effects or in case you experience any other unusual adverse reactions. You may also experience some other less serious side effect including redness, blistering, burning, itching, or peeling. Inform your doctor but do not discontinue the usage of Temovate. You may also develop some local side effects, especially if you are using Temovate for a long time. Among them are thinning of the skin, prolonged redness, and stretch marks. You may also experience other adverse effects that are not mentioned in this leaflet. Consult your doctor if you experience some other side effects.

Storage

Temovate should be stored at a room temperature. Protect it from excessive heat and moisture (do not store it in the bathroom). Keep the medicine in its original tightly-closed container. Keep Temovate away from children. You should throw out any outdated or unneeded medicine.

Overdose

If Temovate is absorbed into the bloodstream it may cause disorders like Cushing's syndrome. Immediately search for medical help in case you suspect an overdose.

More Information

You should not use plastic bandages, dressing or diapers which will prevent the air circulation in the treated areas, unless your doctor advised you to do so. Occlusive dressing may enhance the amount of the medicine absorbed by the body. However, in case you use such occlusive dressing, you should not keep it for more than 12 hours a day. You should not use other topical products on the areas treated with Temovate unless your doctor told you to do so.
