Drug Uses

Seasonale is a contraceptive used to prevent pregnancy. The medicine cannot protect you against sexually transmitted disease like HIV (AIDS), Chlamydia, genital herpes, genital warts, gonorrhea, hepatitis B, and syphilis.

How Taken

You should take one pill every day until the pills in the tablet dispenser are finished. You should not skip pills even if you are spotting or bleeding, or if you have stomach problems. You should not miss pills even if you do not have sex very often and regularly.

Warnings/Precautions

You should consult your doctor before taking any oral birth control pills if you are breast feeding because they may pass into breast milk.

Missed Dose

You could become pregnant in case you miss pills. You can get pregnant if you start the pack later than required. The possibility to become pregnant is higher if you miss more pills. The interval between the pills should not exceed 24 hours.

Possible Side Effects

Seasonale may raise your blood pressure. You may develop a spotty darkening of skin, and especially on the face. You may experience other less serious side effects such as nausea and vomiting, change in appetite, breast tenderness, headache, nervousness, depression, dizziness, loss of scalp hair, rash, vaginal infections, and allergic reactions.

Storage

Seasonale should be stored at a controlled room temperature of 20°-25° C (68°-77° F). Keep it away from children.

Overdose

An overdose of Seasonale may be signaled by nausea or withdrawal bleeding in females. In case of an overdose, you should consult your doctor or pharmacist.

More Information

Your doctor will examine you and will ask you about your medicinal history before they prescribe you any oral birth control pills. You need to be reexamined at least one time a year.
