Remeron
Remeron Medication is a tetracyclic antidepressant. It works by affecting chemicals in the brain which cause depression when they are unbalanced. Remeron Drug increases the activity of serotonin and norepinephrine which help elevate mood.
Drug Uses Remeron is a medicine that is used to treat major depressive disorder. It is indicated for relief of depression symptoms like feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities; changes in appetite; tiredness; sleeping too much; insomnia; and thoughts of death or suicide. How Taken Remeron comes in the form of tablets that are swallowed with water. The common starting dosage of Remeron is 15 mg per day as a single dose. It is recommended that you take the dose at bedtime. Warnings/Precautions You should not take Remeron if you are currently using or if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitor within the last 14 days. Inform your doctor before taking Remeron if you have liver disease; have kidney disease; have a manic-depressive disorder; have blood problems; have high or low blood pressure or heart disease; have had a heart attack in the last 6 weeks; or have epilepsy or seizures. If you suffer from any of the above-mentioned conditions, you may not been able to use Remeron or your dosage may have to be adjusted, or you may have to be monitored during the treatment. Remeron falls into the FDA category C which means that it is not clear if is harmful for a fetus. Talk to your doctor before using Remeron in case you are pregnant. Also, consult your doctor before taking the medicine if you are breast feeding because it is not clear if Remeron passes into breast milk. Patients older that 60 years of age are more like likely to develop side effects of Remeron, including drowsiness, dizziness, unsteadiness, feeling uncoordinated and low blood pressure. They may require reduction of their dosage. Missed Dose In case you miss a dose, take the missed tablet as soon as you remember. However, if it is already time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed one and take the regular dose. Do not take a double dose to catch up the missed one. Possible Side Effects Discontinue the usage of Remeron and search for medical help if you experience any of the following serious adverse effects: an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips, face, or tongue; difficulty breathing); seizures; a fast or irregular heartbeat; or fever, chills, a sore throat, flu-like symptoms, or sores in your mouth or nose. Other less serious adverse effects may occur. Consult your doctor but do not stop using Remeron if you have drowsiness; nausea; increase in weight or appetite; dizziness; dry mouth; constipation; or mild tremor. You may also experience other adverse effects that are not mentioned in this leaflet. Consult your doctor if you experience some other side effects. Storage Remeron should be stored at a controlled room temperature 20°- 25° C (68°- 77° F). Keep the medicine in a tightly-closed light-resistant container. Overdose An overdose of Remeron may be signaled by the following symptoms: disorientation, drowsiness, impaired memory, and tachycardia. No cases of ECG abnormalities, coma or convulsions have been reported after a Remeron overdose. Immediately search for medical help if you suspect an overdose. More Information Be cautious when you drive, operate machinery or perform any other dangerous activity because Remeron may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid the above-mentioned activities if you experience drowsiness or dizziness. You may also experience dizziness when you change your position from sitting or lying to rising. You may prevent a possible fall if you rise slowly. It is recommended that you avoid consummation of alcohol during a treatment with Remeron because alcohol may enhance the drowsiness and dizziness caused by the medicine.
