Drug Uses

Aphthasol is a paste used for treatment of aphthous ulcers (canker sores) in the mouth.

How Taken

Aphthasol should be applied on the canker sore as soon as you notice it. You should wash your hands after you have applied the paste. The usage of the medicine should continue until the sore is healed. Consult your doctor if the sore is not healed after ten days of treatment with the paste. Be careful that the medicine does not get into your eyes. If this happens, immediately wash them with water.

Warnings/Precautions

Inform your doctor if you have ever had an allergic reaction to amlexanox or to any other substances like preservatives or dyes. The function of amlexanox has not been studied in humans but researches on animals have not shown any birth defects or other problem caused by it.

Possible Side Effects

All medicines cause unwanted side effects along with the needed and wanted ones. You may experience some adverse effects and they may disappear after your body adjusts to the medicine. Consult your doctor if these side effects continue longer or bother you. The adverse effects caused by Aphthasol may include burning, stinging, or pain on the part that medicine is applied; inflammation of mucous membranes; diarrhea; nausea.

Storage

Aphthasol should be kept away from children. The medicine is stored away from heat and direct light. Aphthasol should be kept away from moisture and heat because they break down the medicine. Avoid keeping Aphthasol in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink or in other damp places. Any left-over or outdated medicine should be thrown away.

Overdose

Immediately search for medical help if you suspect an overdose.
